Our Quality
La Dailie stemmed from a desire to design and curate an evergreen collection of the highest quality, modern yet timeless jewellery pieces that will never go out of style and to build a community of like-minded busy women who want to live with less, but better.
We believe our community deserves to be educated on what they’re buying and investing in.
OUR COMMITMENT
We are committed to using only the highest quality precious metals to consciously craft our beautiful jewellery pieces. We use pure 18k gold, 14k gold and recycled 925 solid sterling silver, for both our plating and base metal materials.
Using only precious metals ensures our jewellery is hypoallergenic, water-resistant, anti-tarnish, anti-rust, long-lasting and designed to be worn everyday.
RECYCLED 925 SOLID STERLING SILVER
All of our silver pieces are made from pure recycled 925 solid sterling silver with a white gold plated polished finish. This is the highest quality of silver jewellery possible.
WHAT IS GOLD VERMEIL?
Gold Vermeil (ver-may) is the highest quality of jewellery, second only to solid gold.
Gold Vermeil is a universal standard of plated jewellery, and in order to be called Vermeil; the jewellery has to meet certain criteria: the gold plating must be at least 2.5 microns thick and the base metal must be solid sterling silver (a precious metal) and the gold karat must be at least 10k or higher.
Gold Vermeil is designed to have the look and feel of real gold, for a fraction of the price and is the highest quality jewellery for affordable luxury.
AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT TO REGULAR GOLD PLATING?
Not to be confused with regular plated jewellery where there is no standard to how thick or thin the plating is, and means that often the gold plating can be as thin as 0.1 microns, over non-precious base metals such as brass or stainless steel (prone to causing those awful skin reactions we’ve all experienced with cheap jewellery).
18K GOLD VS 14K GOLD
A karat is a unit of gold purity, it refers to the amount of pure gold there is in a piece of jewelry.
Gold comes in various purities, as follows:
18K gold is 75% pure gold
14K gold is 58.3% pure gold
9K gold is 37.5% pure gold
You may notice there is a lot of jewellery marketed as ‘solid gold’ when it is only 9K of gold. This means there is only 37.5% of pure gold, the color is a lot less ‘gold’ looking due to the high proportion of other metals and will tarnish over time.
Despite being far more expensive, we have chosen to use 18K gold for all of our Gold Vermeil earrings, as it contains the highest percentage of actual gold resulting in a beautiful rich color, and feels more substantially heavy and luxurious to the touch.
We want you to feel rest assured that you are investing in the highest quality jewellery for everyday, at the most accessible price we can offer you.
A note from Olivia (our co-founder and designer) - I once invested in a pair of solid gold hoops and within a couple of months my son accidentally flicked one out of my ear and it was lost forever. Not a worthwhile investment! Inspired by this tragic tale, we have decided to offer single hoops, should you ever misplace one!
Email us at hello@ladailie.com to purchase a single replacement hoop.
